Holy Crap! Did that just happen????????

BEEP BEEEP BEEP ...... News Flash ..................

I am not in teaching shape!! The kids left @ 3:30 and I have been sitting at my desk for the last 20 minutes thinking my feet hurt, my voice is tired, my pits stink, and do I have the energy to drive home? I bet I spent 3000 calories today. I ran around class, I was energetic, I was upbeat, I showed the kids my passion to teach and my passion for math.

Today's objective was to take a small risk today, whether that be talking to someone new or including a different soul into your group. When I asked my advanced 8th grade kids to do this one bright little guy said you first! So I busted out a version of Rhianna's song "Umbrella" only the lyrics had to do with the Order of Operations.

I took a huge risk and at the end of the day, four other teachers had said that was the highlight of the student's day! I thought to myself a small risk and a few moments of not being comfortable is worth the relationship that is being built!

Now I cannot take credit for the song that belongs to Ron Clark. Check it out! Keep in mind that I am a better dancer!! My wife can vouch for that!

Twas the Night Before School

The new wall in the classroom. Thanks Kristi!
My Board outside the class

Twas the night before school and all through my house, I should be in bed sleeping instead of playing Madden on the couch!

I think I am ready and I feel a little nervous, I hope I don't deliver a boring lip service.

The room is inviting and ready to roll, it is a new year and I won't be a troll!

Welcome to Math class it will have its ups and downs, I just hope there is a limit to all the class clowns.

Enough of this Rhyme, sit back, buckle up and enjoy this time!

What??? The Kids come back When?? WEDNESDAY!

Today was the first day of school of the 2011 -2012 year; for me at least! It was nice to see all the staff members getting ready for the kids to return. I finished a great bulletin board. This is a fantastic feat because I have a hard time following through on the ideas that pop up in my head!
I am excited to see the kids and get started on the MATH! Even if it is the most hated subject in school!

If I were in a Spin class I would be Winning!

So I spent the majority of the day in the classroom on Friday! As I left my room to for the weekend I wondered what in the hell did I get done today! My wife would be so proud....I made lists! Lists that tell me what to do on Monday, lists that will tell me what to do on Tuesday, lists that will tell me what to do...........oh you get the point! The bottom line is that all of those list tell me is that I have a lot of work to do before the 31st!!

Check out the videos...... I wish math was this easy!

New Year --Renewed Motivation

The school year is fast approaching and after attending a terrific conference this summer, I am full of new tricks and excitement. I am not felt this excited since my very first year of teaching. Although that excitement was masked by FEAR! I am going to attempt to reflect about my year this year in this blog. I will share my thoughts, successes, and failures as I try to reach 7th and 8th grade students! My hope is that through reflection I will be come a better educator! Good luck to all the teachers returning to school this year!
